Unprecedented success: Costa Blanca Surpasses Foreign Tourist Record, Boosting Sector Recovery.

The Costa Blanca has achieved a historic milestone by surpassing the record number of foreign tourists in the first ten months of this year, surpassing the figures achieved in 2019, considered the year before the pandemic and so far the best year for the tourism sector. According to the latest statistics from the National Statistics Institute, the Valencian Community has received more than nine million foreign tourists up to October, exceeding by more than half a million the figures recorded in the historic 2019.

Of these international visitors, almost seventy percent have chosen the Costa Blanca and the province of Alicante as their destination, reaching more than six million tourists. These figures, with two months to go until the end of 2023, represent an increase of 350,000 visitors compared to the record year of 2019.

Given this unprecedented success, the president of the Generalitat, Carlos Mazón, has urged the Central Government to implement the second runway at Alicante-Elche airport. With a monthly movement of more than one million passengers at this airport alone, it is expected to easily exceed ten million tourists. The tourism industry has managed to extend the high season beyond the summer months, taking advantage of two long weekends in the last two months.
