Its privileged climate allows hiking to be enjoyed almost all year round, and its unique landscapes range from mountain ranges and ravines to rugged coastlines and picturesque villages.

Outstanding Walking Routes in Alicante

1. The Rock of Ifach

Located in Calpe, this iconic rock formation rises 332 metres above sea level and offers an exciting route with panoramic views of the Costa Blanca. The hike is moderate in difficulty and the final stretch requires a little more caution, but the views from the top make it well worth the effort.

2. The Bernia Mountains

One of the most spectacular routes in the province, the Sierra de Bernia offers trails around the mountain with views of the sea and the valley. A highlight is the ‘Forat de Bernia,’ a natural tunnel that crosses the mountain range and offers amazing views. The circular route is of moderate difficulty and is perfect for a half-day excursion.

3. El Hondo (Elche and Crevillente)

This natural park is a wetland perfect for easy walks and bird watching. There are several trails that cross the lagoons and marshes of the park, such as the circular route of El Hondo, where it is possible to observe flamingos, herons and other migratory birds. It is ideal for a relaxing walk in a unique environment full of biodiversity.

4. The Santa Pola Lighthouse Route

A simple but charming walk that leads to the Santa Pola lighthouse, with stunning views of Tabarca Island and the salt flats. With a well-marked and accessible path, it is ideal for a family outing.

5. La Mata and Torrevieja Lagoons

This route is perfect for enjoying the famous pink lagoons of Torrevieja. The trail runs along paths that border the lagoons, offering spectacular views of this natural phenomenon. The Laguna de La Mata circular route is ideal for a leisurely stroll with the family, and the scenery changes depending on the time of year and water level, providing different visual experiences on each visit.
