Markets on the South Coast of Alicante
Street markets are part of the soul of the southern coast of Alicante. Every week they transform squares and streets into spaces full of life, tradition and local atmosphere. More than shopping, it is an experience: a stroll through colours, aromas and smiles that reflects the essence of the Mediterranean.
What can you find at a street market?
Markets sell all kinds of products, often at very affordable prices:
Fresh food: fruit, vegetables, dried fruit and nuts, cold meats, cheese, olives, bread...
Clothing and footwear: from T-shirts, dresses and shoes to underwear and household linen.
Accessories and costume jewellery: bags, glasses, necklaces, watches, belts.
Plants and flowers: especially in spring.
Crafts and decoration: handmade products, household utensils, gifts.
Prepared food: in some street markets you can buy roast chicken, churros or sweets.
These are some of the street markets you can find on the south coast of Alicante:
1. La Mata
Located on Av. de Francia, near the beach, it opens every Wednesday from 9:00 to 14:00 with around 250 stalls.
Relaxed atmosphere, ideal for strolling around after buying fruit, vegetables, clothes, jewellery and handmade products.
Perfect for combining shopping with breakfast or lunch in the nearby bars overlooking the sea.
2. Torrevieja
Located in the Antonio Soria Park, it is open on Fridays from 8:00 to 14:00, with an impressive 700 stalls at the height of the season.
